Sometimes, new ways to talk start when different groups meet. At first, they might use a simple mix called a pidgin. This helps adults talk for trade. But when children grow up using a pidgin, it changes. They turn it into a full language. This is called a creole.

A creole is a real, stable language. It has its own rules for grammar. It also has a large set of words. Many creoles started in the last 500 years. This happened during a time of big sea trades. Most creoles use words from European languages like English or French. Some use words from Arabic, Chinese, or Malay. They also take sounds or words from other local languages. This mix makes them very special. In the past, some people did not respect creole languages. They thought they were just broken versions of other tongues. Today, things are changing. Many creoles are now official languages. They are used in schools and in movies. People study them to learn how languages grow.
