Colonia del Sacramento

geography Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Colonia is a city in Uruguay.

It sits by a big river. This river is the Río de la Plata. The city is very old.

Long ago, people built a wall around the city. This helped keep the town safe. Now, you can walk on old stone streets.

Some streets are straight. Other streets curve around the land. This is because the Portuguese built the first part.

Today, many people visit the old parts. You can see a tall lighthouse there. There are also old ruins from a church.

It is a beautiful place to explore. Do you want to see it?
