It is a hybrid. This means it is a mix of two fruits. It comes from a mandarin and a sweet orange. A man named Clément Rodier found it in Algeria. The fruit was named to honor him.

Clementines are easy to peel. Many people call them "easy-peelers." They are juicy and have less acid than oranges. Inside, you can find 7 to 14 segments. These are the small slices of the fruit.

There are three main types of clementines. Some have no seeds. These are called seedless. Other types have up to 10 seeds. The Monreal type has more than 10 seeds. Monreal fruits are often larger and sweeter.

These fruits grow well in warm places. They like North Africa and California. They do not need as much heat as other citrus. This helps them grow well. A 100 gram serving has a lot of vitamin C. This is a nutrient that helps our bodies stay healthy.
