Tritons are active hunters. They eat other snails and starfish. They are famous for eating the crown-of-thorns starfish. This starfish has many venomous spikes. The snail uses its muscular foot to grab the prey. It then uses a radula to eat. A radula is a toothy organ used for scraping.

The snail uses a special saliva to freeze the starfish. This helps the snail eat at its own pace. This work helps the ocean. The starfish can destroy coral reefs if they are not stopped. We can find fossils of these snails in rocks. This shows they lived a long time ago.
