He studied how the human mind works. Before he was a scientist, he was an army officer. He served for fifteen years. Later, he studied psychology in a city called Leipzig. He wanted to use science to learn about people.

Spearman looked for patterns in how people solve problems. He noticed that people who do well on one test often do well on others. He said this shows a single main skill. He called this the "g factor." This "g" stands for general intelligence. He also thought people had special skills for certain tasks.

Spearman used math to find these patterns. He helped create a way to study links called factor analysis. This is a set of steps to find connections between many things. His work changed how we study the mind. He believed every person is a genius at something. He thought we just need better ways to find those talents.
