Hardy worked on pure mathematics. This is math that does not focus on the physical world. He wanted his work to be clean and beautiful. He did not want math to be used for war. He believed good math has a lasting beauty.

One of his most famous stories is about Ramanujan. Ramanujan was a brilliant mathematician from India. Hardy saw his talent right away. They became close partners. Hardy said meeting him was a very special time in his life.

Hardy also helped science in other ways. He helped find the Hardy–Weinberg principle. This is a rule used to study how groups of living things change. Even though he liked pure math, his ideas help scientists today.

Hardy was also a fan of cricket. He loved the game very much. He spent much of his free time playing or watching it. He was a very important part of math history.
