Charaka edited a big book called the Charaka Samhita. This book is a main guide for Ayurveda. It teaches about how the body works. It also covers how to find and treat sickness. Charaka believed the body needs balance. He said we have three parts called doshas. These are vata, pitta, and kapha. Vata is for movement. Pitta is for change. Kapha is for stability. If these parts are not balanced, people get sick.

Charaka used many things for medicine. He used plants and minerals. He also used things from animals. This included fish oil, beeswax, and even eggs. He even studied bones. He wrote that humans have 360 bones. His work was so good that it was translated into Arabic and Latin.
