Character arc

arts Maturity 11-13 Next article →

A character arc is a journey inside a person. It is how a character changes in a story. They may start as one kind of person. Then, they become a different person. This change often happens because of things that happen in the plot.

Sometimes, a hero faces big problems. They might lack skills or friends. To win, they must change. They might learn new skills. They might also learn more about themselves. This can happen by meeting mentors. It can also happen by seeing the world in a new way.

We see this in many stories. In the movie *The Lion King*, Simba changes from a cub to a wise king. In *Frozen*, Elsa learns to embrace her ice powers. In *Spider-Man*, Peter Parker grows from a shy teen into a hero. He learns that great power brings great responsibility.

In books, characters change too. In *Les Misérables*, Jean Valjean goes from a selfish man to a loving father. In *A Wizard of Earthsea*, a boy becomes a wise man. These changes make stories feel real and exciting to watch.
