Character arc

arts Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Characters in stories can change. They start as one kind of person. Then, they go on a journey. They might learn new skills. They might learn to be brave. This change is called a character arc.

Sometimes, a hero faces a big problem. They might not have enough friends. They might lack the tools to win. To win, they must change who they are.

In a movie, a cub named Simba grows up. He goes from a young cub to a wise king. This makes the story very exciting.

In a book, a girl named Cosette changes too. She starts out lonely and sad. Later, she becomes a kind woman.

Watching characters grow is fun. It shows us how people can learn. Do you like seeing characters change?
