Making a movie is a very big job. Reed learned by making mistakes in his early work. He once said he felt lost when making decisions alone. He used camera angles and cutting to tell stories. He also worked hard to find the right music. While filming in Vienna, he found a zither player named Anton Karas. This helped create the music for his famous film, *The Third Man*. He also made sure his stories had the right ending.
