The plant has a very specific way it grows. It has thin, feathery leaves on its stems. In June and July, it grows tall flower stems. These stems hold small white or pink flowers. The flowers grow in groups called umbels. The fruits are shaped like small crescents. People often call these fruits seeds. They have five pale ridges on them. If you crush them, they smell very nice.

Caraway grows best in warm, sunny spots. It likes soil that drains water well. Many countries grow it today. The Netherlands, Poland, and Germany are the top producers. Finland is also a very big grower. In 2011, Finland provided 28% of the world's caraway exports. This happened because Finland has very long summer days. The extra sunlight helps the plants grow well.
