Dingoes often breed with domestic dogs. This has created many mixed-breed dogs in some areas. Some famous breeds, like the Australian Cattle Dog, came from crossing herding dogs with dingoes. In Africa, hybridization also happens. The African gold wolf can breed with domestic dogs and Ethiopian wolves. Scientists even study how jackals and dogs breed. In Russia, people bred jackals with Lapponian Herders to make Sulimov dogs. These dogs have a very good sense of smell.

History shows us that people have noticed these mixes for a long time. Charles Darwin once saw a hybrid of an English dog and a jackal.
