There is also evidence of gene flow between different species. For example, some African wolves have ancestry from both wolves and Ethiopian wolves. In the Caucasus Mountains, about ten percent of dogs are first-generation hybrids with wolves. This shows that wolves and dogs can sometimes breed in the wild.
