Cai Xukun is a prominent Chinese singer-songwriter, actor, and entertainer. He is widely recognized by his mononym, Kun. Born on August 2, 1998, in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, his early life involved moving between several locations. He spent part of his childhood in Huaihua, Hunan, with his grandparents. He eventually grew up in Shenzhen, Guangdong. Even as an elementary student, he held leadership roles like student union president.

Kun's professional journey began with early appearances on television variety shows. In 2012, he appeared on the show Up Young!, where he reached the national top 200. That same year, he began acting in television series like Half a Fairytale and Female Criminal-Police Officer Li Chunchun. He also played the teenage version of a character in the series Lock Me Up, Tie Him Down. These early roles allowed him to develop his skills in front of a national audience.

His career underwent significant changes through intensive reality television training. From 2015 to 2017, he participated in two seasons of the show Super Idol. This program was produced by Anhui TV in partnership with the South Korean network MBC. During this time, Kun faced constant pressure and fierce competition from other participants. He underwent intensive idol training to improve his performance skills. This period of growth helped him secure a spot in the Top 3 of the competition.

Following his time on Super Idol, Kun joined the boy group SWIN under Yihai Entertainment. However, the group faced limited public appearances and a decline in popularity. In early 2017, Kun filed a lawsuit against Yihai Entertainment to terminate his contract. This led to a period of dormancy before his major breakthrough in 2018. He joined the survival show Idol Producer as an independent trainee at the end of 2017.

On Idol Producer, Kun achieved massive success through public voting. He performed his self-written song, "I Wanna Get Love," during the first episode. He consistently earned high votes and held the number one rank multiple times. In the final evaluation, he received 47,640,887 votes. This result allowed him to become the leader and center of the temporary group Nine Percent. He officially debuted with the group on April 6, 2018.

Kun's success extended into acting and solo musical achievements. He starred in the teen comedy web-drama I Won't Get Bullied by Girls. This series drew influence from Japanese manga and reached over 700 million views. As a solo artist, his single "I Wanna Get Love" topped the Mainland China C-pop Single Chart for nearly three weeks. He also released the EP Young in 2019, which earned 63 million digital sales and streams. This EP earned more than 20 million yuan and achieved multiple awards on QQ Music within minutes.

Beyond entertainment, Kun serves as a cultural representative and philanthropist. In January 2019, the Jamaican Embassy in Shanghai named him a Goodwill Ambassador for China and Jamaica. He uses this title to promote mutual cultural exchanges. Kun also demonstrates social responsibility through charitable donations. For example, he donated 600,000 RMB to a charity project during a BAZAAR Stars event. He continues to expand his reach through international collaborations and solo tours.
