They sit south of the city of Brașov. These mountains are part of the Southern Carpathians. The highest point is called Omu Peak.

Many people visit these mountains for fun. To the east, the mountains slope down to the Prahova Valley. This area has many ski resorts. People go to Sinaia to play winter sports. They can use a cable car to go up. Sinaia also has the Peleș Castle.

Another place to visit is Bușteni. It is a good place to go trekking. You can also go skiing or sleighing there. A cable car links a hotel to the Babele Chalet. High up on the Bucegi Plateau, the wind and rain change the rocks. They make shapes like the Sphinx and Babele.

A large part of the area is a national park. It is called Bucegi Natural Park. This park covers 32,663 hectares. More than 60% of the park is covered with forests. This helps protect many plants and animals.
