Brain teaser

arts Maturity 5-7 Next article →

A brain teaser is a type of puzzle. It makes you think hard to find the answer. You often must think in new or unusual ways. Some puzzles use logic. Others are riddles.

A long time ago, a man named Archimedes liked them. He was a Greek mathematician. He made math problems for other people to solve. One problem asks about hens and eggs. It asks how many eggs one hen lays in one day. The math answer is one third. But you cannot lay a third of an egg!

Some riddles use words to trick your mind. One riddle asks about the letter M. It appears once in a minute. It appears twice in a moment. But it is never in a thousand years.

Other puzzles use tricks with how we think. These can be very hard. They can even start big debates. One famous example is the Monty Hall problem. Another is called the Boy or Girl paradox. These puzzles show how our minds work. They are a fun way to test your brain.
