He grew up on a ranch in Arizona. His family raised cattle and chickens there. He learned to race horses when he was a boy. He even worked as a jockey for ten dollars a day.

Baffert has had a very successful career. He has won the Kentucky Derby six times. He also has eight wins in the Preakness Stakes. Two of his horses, American Pharoah and Justify, won the Triple Crown. This is a very special prize for horses. He has won 21 Breeders' Cup races. This is more than any other trainer.

However, Baffert has also faced many problems. Some of his horses failed drug tests. This means they had medicine in them that was not allowed. One horse, Medina Spirit, was taken from his win in the Kentucky Derby. Because of these issues, some racing tracks banned him from entering races. People have many different ideas about his work and his style. Some people think he is a great trainer. Others believe his actions hurt the sport of racing.
