Jackson's talent showed in many different ways. In high school, he was a great runner and a fast jumper. He even won state titles in the decathlon, which is a contest with ten different track events. In college, he played football as a running back for the Auburn Tigers. He also played baseball as an outfielder. He was so good at football that he won the Heisman Trophy in 1985. This is a very special award for the best college football player.

His journey began in Bessemer, Alabama. He was the eighth of ten children in his family. His family called him "Bo" because they used to call him a "wild boar hog" when he got into trouble. At Auburn University, he chose to play football on a scholarship. He did this because he promised his mother he would be the first in his family to attend a major college. He even famously scored a touchdown by running over the top of the players in a big game against Alabama.

Jackson's professional career was full of amazing moments. He played football for the Los Angeles Raiders in the NFL. He also played baseball for the Kansas City Royals, the Chicago White Sox, and the California Angels. In 1988, he became the first Royals player to have a "25-25 season." This means he hit at least 25 home runs and stole 25 bases.

Even when things were hard, Jackson stayed busy. A hip injury in 1991 ended his football career. He missed the entire 1992 baseball season because of it. However, he came back to win a comeback award in 1993. He also appeared in TV shows like "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." In the late 1980s, everyone knew his name because of Nike ads called "Bo Knows." He even finished his college degree in Family and Child Development at Auburn.
