Bliss is a very famous photograph.

It shows a bright green hill and a blue sky. The sky has white cirrus clouds. A man named Charles O'Rear took the photo in 1996. He was driving in California. He saw the beautiful hill near the Napa and Sonoma county line. The grass was green because of winter rains.

O'Rear used a special camera and film. This film made the colors look very bright. He did not change the photo with a computer. Many people thought he used software to make it look real. Later, Microsoft bought the photo. They used it as the wallpaper for Windows XP. This is the main image on a computer screen. Microsoft wanted a photo that felt calm and warm.

The photo is seen by billions of people. It may be the most viewed photo in history. Today, the hill is used for vineyards again. A small plaque marks the spot where the photo was taken. People still love this peaceful view.
