These lands sit on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The name Baltic comes from that sea. Some say the name means "white."

Long ago, many tribes lived here. Some lived in forests and near rivers. In the Middle Ages, things changed. In the north, German knights came to the land. They brought a new religion called Christianity. They also built big trade cities like Riga and Tallinn.

Lithuania had a different path. It grew into a very large state. It had its own kings and leaders. Later, all three lands were part of the Russian Empire. After World War I, they became independent countries again.

In the 1940s, things became hard. The Soviet Union and Germany took control of the lands. This lasted for a long time. Today, these three nations are very successful. They are members of the European Union. They work together on energy and safety. They are also part of NATO, which helps them stay secure.
