Most azhdarchids had very long necks and long legs. Their necks were made of many long bones. They also had large heads and long jaws. Some had short, deep bills. Others had thin, long jaws. Some scientists think they lived on the ground. They may have acted like modern storks. Many ate small prey, like baby dinosaurs. One kind called Hatzegopteryx was much stronger. It may have been a top predator. Another kind, Alanqa, might have crushed shellfish with its jaw.

These animals came in many sizes. Some were small like cats. Others were very big. One unnamed pterosaur was nicknamed "Dracula." It had a wingspan of 10 meters.

Azhdarchids lived all over the world. They were a very successful group. They were among the last pterosaurs to live. Many other flying reptiles died out before them. Scientists still study their fossils to learn more.
