Gobineau worked as a diplomat and a writer. A diplomat is a person who represents their country. He traveled to many places like Greece and Brazil. He also wrote many stories and books. One of his most famous books was about human races.

In this book, he shared ideas that were not true. He claimed some groups of people were better than others. Modern experts call this pseudoscience. This means it looks like science, but it is not. His ideas were very unfair. Later, leaders in Germany used his words to hurt people. His books were also used by people in America who supported slavery.
