It sits near the Milky Way, which is a bright path of stars. This makes the area very rich with stars.

Many bright stars live in Ara. The brightest star is Beta Arae. It is an orange supergiant star. This means it is a very large and bright star.

Ara also has a super star cluster called Westerlund 1. This cluster holds Westerlund 1-26. It is one of the largest stars known.
