Many things caused the colonies to rebel against the King. After the French and Indian War ended in 1763, tensions rose. The British Parliament passed new taxes to pay for war costs. Colonists felt these taxes were unfair because they had no representation. They had no voice in the British Parliament. This led to many protests and angry feelings.

They dumped taxed tea into the Boston Harbor to protest. Then, the Revolutionary War began with battles in Lexington and Concord. The colonies began to work together to resist British rule.
