Young also became very famous for his work with his voice. For over 40 years, he was the voice of Scrooge McDuck for Disney. He first voiced the character in a 1974 record album. Later, he voiced Scrooge in the short film Mickey's Christmas Carol in 1983. He also spoke for Scrooge in the DuckTales series from 1987 to 1990. Fans could even hear his voice in video games like Kingdom Hearts. He used his voice for many other characters, such as Farmer Smurf and Haggis McHaggis.

His journey to stardom began with a love for radio. As a child, he had severe asthma and stayed in bed often. During this time, he fell in love with listening to radio programs. He started his own comedy radio series on the CBC network in Canada. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. After the war, an American agent helped him move to New York City in 1944. This move helped him find success on American radio stations like NBC.

Young achieved many great things during his long career. In 1951, he won two Emmy Awards for his show, The Alan Young Show. These awards were for Best Actor and Most Outstanding Personality. He also appeared in many movies, such as the 1960 film The Time Machine. He played a character named David Filby in that movie. Later, he even returned to play the same character in a sequel. He worked in the acting business for many decades.

It is interesting to see how one person can do so many different jobs. Young moved from being a radio star to a TV star and then a voice actor. He even performed on stage in plays like Show Boat.
