In 868, Ahmad went to Egypt as a governor. At first, he did not have all the power. A man named Ibn al-Mudabbir controlled the money. Ahmad worked hard to take control. By 872, he ruled Egypt on his own. He made the government work better. He fixed the water paths for farms. This helped the crops grow. Because of this, the land made more money.
