Ahlam Mosteghanemi is a famous writer from Algeria. She was the first woman to write poetry and stories in Arabic. This was a big deal. For a long time, people were not allowed to study in Arabic. Ahlam helped change that.

She grew up in a family that loved their country. Her father was a leader who fought for Algeria. When she was young, Ahlam worked on the radio. She had a popular show called Hammassat, which means Whispers. She used her voice to share poems with many people.

Ahlam wrote many books. Her most famous book is Memory of the Flesh. It is a poetic love story. Many people in the Arab world love it. It has been printed 34 times! She also wrote a book called Black Suits You So Well. This story is about a teacher. It shows how hard it is to stand up for art.

Ahlam has won many prizes. One group called her a light in the dark. She even works for the United Nations. She helps people as a goodwill ambassador. She also started a prize to help other Algerians write in Arabic.
