Agricultural science is the study of farming.

Scientists in this field work to grow better food. They study plants and animals. They also look at soil and water.

Some experts focus on crops. This is called agronomy. Other people use hydroponics. This is a way to grow plants in water. They do not use any soil at all.

History shows how much we have learned. In the 1800s, scientists started long tests in England. These tests are still going today! In the United States, a law called the Hatch Act began in 1887. This law helped farmers learn about new fertilizers.

Today, weather changes create new problems. Heatwaves and floods can hurt farms. This makes it hard to grow food. Scientists use climate-smart ways to help. They make crops that can live in heat. They also find ways to use less water. This work helps keep our food safe for everyone.

Scientists want to protect our natural world.
