Before his time, actors mostly spoke to a large group called a chorus. Aeschylus changed how plays worked by adding more characters to the stage. This allowed the actors to have conflicts with each other. His work helped people understand how drama could grow and change. He was a very important figure in the history of theater.

Writing plays involved many different steps and styles. Aeschylus was likely the first person to present plays as a trilogy. A trilogy is a set of three plays that tell one long, connected story.

His most famous set is called the Oresteia. This set includes the plays Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Eumenides. He also wrote many other plays that were part of connected sets. Some of these stories were based on old myths. He even wrote plays about the Trojan War.

History tells us that Aeschylus lived a very busy life. He was born around 525 BC in a small town called Eleusis.

As a young man, he worked in a vineyard. Some old stories say the god Dionysus visited him in a dream. This dream told him to become a writer of tragedies. He began his first performance in 499 BC when he was 26 years old. He won his first big prize at a festival in 484 BC.

There are many interesting facts about his career and life. He wrote between 70 and 90 plays in total.

Today, only seven of his plays have survived in a complete form. One of these is called The Persians, which is about a real war. Aeschylus was also a soldier who fought in several big battles. He fought at the Battle of Marathon and the Battle of Salamis. He even fought at the Battle of Plataea in 479 BC. His bravery in war was very important to his people.

His life connects to many other famous people and ideas. His family was very involved in writing and art. Both of his sons, Euphorion and Euaeon, became tragic poets. Even his nephew, Philocles, won prizes for his writing.
