During World War II, new tools appeared. These included missiles and early bombs that could be guided. Some planes carried soldiers who jumped with parachutes. These soldiers are called airborne forces. In the Cold War, large missiles became very important. Today, many nations use drones. Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles. This means they fly without a person inside. They can be used to watch areas or to fight. People on the ground also use anti-aircraft tools. These tools help protect places from planes. Aerial warfare has changed a lot over many years.
