Military reconnaissance is a way to find information. Soldiers explore an area to learn about the land. They also look for enemy forces. This helps leaders make good choices.

There are many ways to do this. Some scouts look at the terrain, which means the land and weather. Others look at the people living in an area. This is called civil reconnaissance. Scouts might also check a specific route. They look at roads, rails, or water paths. They check if bridges are strong enough for troops.

Different tools help scouts do their jobs. Some use bikes to move fast.

Others use planes, ships, or even satellites in space. Satellites can take photos from far above. Some soldiers even use night vision to see in the dark.
