Adobe's software works in many different ways. One famous tool is Photoshop, which is used for editing images.

Adobe also created the Portable Document Format, or PDF. The PDF allows people to share documents easily.

Two men named John Warnock and Charles Geschke started Adobe.

They founded the company in December 1982. They began their work in a garage. The name comes from Adobe Creek in Los Altos, California. This creek is named after the clay used for mudbricks. Steve Jobs tried to buy the company for $5 million in 1982. The founders refused to sell the whole company. Instead, they sold him shares worth 19 percent of the business. This deal helped Adobe become profitable in its first year.

Adobe has grown by buying many other companies.

In 2005, they bought Macromedia for $3.4 billion. This gave them tools like Flash and Dreamweaver. They also bought Omniture in 2009 for $1.8 billion. This helped them grow in digital marketing. Today, the company has more than 26,000 employees worldwide. They have large offices in the United States and India. Some of their main offices are in Seattle, Austin, and Bangalore.

Most people know Adobe through the Creative Cloud. In the past, users bought software one time. Now, Adobe uses a subscription model.

This means people pay a regular fee to use the tools. This change caused some disagreement among users. In 2024, the U.S. government looked into their pricing policies. Adobe also handles very important digital information. In 2013, the company had a large security breach. This event affected millions of customer records. Despite these hard times, Adobe remains a major name in technology.
