She wrote about big buildings and cities. People call her an architecture critic. This means she studied how buildings look and feel. She wanted people to talk about the art in their streets.

Ada worked for The New York Times for many years. She was the first architecture critic there. Her writing was so good that she won a Pulitzer Prize. This is a very special award for writers. She also won a MacArthur Fellowship.

Ada loved cities. She wanted to save old, beautiful buildings. She helped start a group to protect landmarks in New York City. She did not want fake or silly old styles. She wanted real history to stay.

She wrote eleven books about design. One book was a life story of Frank Lloyd Wright. She also worked at the Museum of Modern Art. Later, she wrote for The Wall Street Journal. Even after she died in 2013, her work stayed important. Now, many of her notes and photos are kept in a special place for people to study.
