Activity space

society Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Think about all the places you go every day. You visit your home. You go to school or work. You might go to a gym or a store. These places make up your activity space. This is the set of places you visit in your daily life.

Some experts study these spaces. They look at how cities change how we act. Two experts named Horton and Reynolds studied this too. They said an activity space is a part of a larger space. They called this the action space. This is the collection of all places you know about. It includes places you like or find useful.

Some people call this an awareness space. Others call it a mental map. This is a map in your mind. Later, scientists began to look at more than just physical places. David Kirsh said activity space has many parts. It includes your goal for a task. It includes the physical space where you work. It also includes the actions you can take. Finally, it includes the plans in your mind.
