An actor adopts a character to show a story. They might act in a play, on TV, or in a film. To do this, they use many skills. They need a strong imagination and clear speech. They also use their bodies and voices to show feelings.

Some actors use improvisation. This means they make up the story as they go. They do not use a written script.

This can help actors feel free to express themselves. One famous group used masks and improv in Italy. They were called the commedia dell'arte.

Many actors go to school to train. They study at colleges or drama schools. They learn how to move and sing. They also practice acting for a camera.
