Yuval Noah Harari is a famous thinker and writer. He was born in 1976 in Kiryat Ata, Israel. He grew up in a secular Jewish family. His father, Shlomo, worked as an engineer. His mother, Pnina, worked as an office administrator. Harari was a very bright child. He taught himself how to read at age three.

Harari spent many years studying the past. He studied history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He started this work when he was 17 years old. Later, he went to the University of Oxford in England. He earned a D.Phil. degree there in 2002. While at Oxford, he was influenced by the writer Jared Diamond. Harari is now a professor of history at the Hebrew University.

Most people know Harari for his many books. His first big bestseller was Sapiens in 2011. This book was based on lectures he gave to students. It tells the story of how humans changed over time. He also wrote Homo Deus in 2016. That book looks at what might happen in our future. He even wrote a book for kids called Unstoppable Us in 2022.

Harari explores big ideas about our world. He writes about how humans use language and stories. He looks at how we changed the planet through farming and science. He also thinks about how new technology might change us. Some people worry that machines might become smarter than humans. Harari thinks these changes could happen very soon. He wants us to think about these big questions now.

Not everyone agrees with everything Harari says. Some scientists say his work lacks enough math or facts. They think his books are more like fun stories than hard science. Other people have argued about how he writes about certain countries. In 2019, he and his husband, Itzik Yahav, started Sapienship. This company helps people work together through research and education. They want to use stories to build trust between all people.
