World peace is a big idea about how people can live together. It is the goal of having peace among all people and all nations on Earth.

Many different groups have different ideas about how to make this happen. Some groups use science and medicine to help. Other groups use education or diplomacy to stop fighting. Diplomacy is a way for leaders to talk through problems. Many people believe that protecting human rights is a key part of this work. The goal is to find a way for everyone to live safely without war.

Many thinkers have created theories to explain how peace might work. One idea is called capitalism peace theory. Some scholars believe that when countries trade with each other, they stay peaceful. They think that buying and selling goods makes nations rely on one another. Another idea is democratic peace theory, which was developed mainly in the 1960s. This theory suggests that democracies rarely go to war with each other.

There are also ideas about how borders and governments affect peace. Some people believe that stable borders help countries become more democratic.

History shows many different ways people have tried to find peace. Since 1945, the United Nations has worked to resolve conflicts without war. This group includes five permanent members on its Security Council. These members are China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Even though these groups work for peace, many military conflicts have still happened. Some people even suggest that being very strong can prevent war. This idea is called peace through strength. It is an old idea that can be traced back to the Roman Emperor Hadrian.

There are also specific rules and days meant to promote peace. The United Nations established the International Day of Peace in 1981.

People observe this day every year on September 21. In 2001, the United Nations voted to make this a day for preventing violence. Some people even call for a ceasefire during this time. In the early 1960s, leaders tried to write a constitution for the whole world. They held meetings in Switzerland and Germany in 1968 to discuss this. Over 200 participants from 27 different countries attended those sessions.

Peace is a concept that connects many parts of our world. It links to how we study history, politics, and even how we trade goods.

Whether through laws or through trade, people are always looking for ways to live together. Some theories look at how money and markets work to keep people calm. Others look at how big groups of people identify with one another. Even during the Cold War, leaders thought about how weapons might prevent war. All of these different ideas show how much people care about a peaceful future.
