Wind is the natural movement of air.

It happens when air moves from high pressure to low pressure. This movement is mostly caused by heat. The sun warms the Earth in different ways. The equator gets more heat than the poles. This temperature difference makes air move.

The spinning of our planet also helps. This is called the Coriolis effect. It makes the wind curve as it moves.

Wind comes in many sizes. A soft wind is a breeze. A very strong wind is a hurricane. A short burst of fast wind is a gust.
