Wild buffaloes live in groups. Old females lead these groups. They stay together to rest and eat. Adult males often live in small groups of their own.

Today, these animals are in danger. There are fewer than 4,000 mature buffaloes left in the world. This is because they lose their homes. They also face hunting. Sometimes, they mix with farm buffaloes. This makes it hard to keep their wild blood pure. People are working to move some buffaloes to new parks to help them grow.
