These camels live in China and Mongolia. They are a special species. They are not the same as domestic camels. Scientists found they split apart long ago. This happened about 700,000 to 1.1 million years ago.

Wild camels have unique bodies. They have long, narrow nostrils. They also have thick eyelashes. These parts help during sandstorms. Their feet have two large toes. These toes spread wide to walk on sand.

Their humps are smaller than domestic camels. They are also shaped like cones. One amazing thing is their drinking. They can drink water that is saltier than the sea. This is very rare for mammals.

These camels are in danger. There are only about 950 left. People hunt them for meat and skin. New roads and oil fields also change their homes.
