Wholesalers do not sell to regular people. Instead, they sell to businesses. These businesses might be small shops or large companies. Wholesalers often buy goods in bulk from makers. They pay a lower price for these big orders. Then, they sell the goods to retailers. A retailer is a shop that sells to you. Retailers pay a higher price to make a profit.

Wholesalers do many important jobs. They can sort and grade goods. They can also repack items into smaller lots. Some wholesalers use a cold chain. This is a way to keep food very cold during travel.

There are different kinds of wholesalers. Merchant wholesalers own the goods they sell. Other workers act as agents or brokers. These people do not own the goods. They just help match buyers with sellers for a fee.

In the past, people used trains and ships to move goods. Now, many wholesalers use the internet. They use digital tools to take orders and send bills. This helps move goods all around the world.
