A web browser is an app used to see websites.

You can use them on many things. They work on phones, tablets, and computers. They even work on smart TVs and watches.

To use a browser, you type a URL into the address bar. A URL is a web address. Most addresses start with http or https. The browser goes to a web server to get files. These files include text, images, and videos.

A part of the browser called a rendering engine turns these files into a page you can see. Some browsers also use JavaScript engines. These help run complex apps inside the browser.

Browsers have many tools. You can use tabs to open many pages at once. You can also use bookmarks to save your favorite sites. Many people use Google Chrome. It has about 69% of the market. Safari is also popular, with about 16% of the market.
