An architect is a person who designs buildings. He likes to use old ways to make new things. He often uses old materials in his work. For example, the Ningbo Museum uses recycled bricks. These bricks came from old buildings that were torn down.

This helps him save the history of a place. The Ningbo Museum even looks like the nearby mountains.

Wang works with his wife, Lu Wenyu. They started a firm called Amateur Architecture Studio. They chose this name to show they care about more than just being professional. They want to protect old neighborhoods. Wang also teaches students at the China Academy of Art. He makes them learn how to work with their hands. They must learn bricklaying and carpentry. He believes you must know your materials to make art.

In 2012, Wang won the Pritzker Prize. This is the top prize for architects in the world. He was the first person from China to win it.
