A wadi is a path in the desert.

It is usually very dry. It only has water when it rains hard. Heavy rain can cause a fast flood. This water carries sand and small rocks.

The sand and rocks settle in the path. This can build up small walls. These walls change how the water flows later. Plants can grow in these spots. People can sometimes find water under the sand.

This helps people live in the dry desert.
