We can measure how much of one thing is in a mix. This is called a volume fraction. It is a way to show how much space a part takes up.

To find it, we divide one part by the whole mix. This gives us a number. We can also use a percent.

All the parts must add up to one. Sometimes, a mix takes up less space. This happens when we mix water and alcohol.
