We can share ideas without words.

We use a visual language to do this. It uses lines, shapes, and colors. It also uses patterns and space.

People have used this for a long time. Some people drew on rocks to tell stories. Long ago, people used marks to send messages.

Our brains help us see these signs. We can see a whole shape even if it is not finished. Our minds like to find patterns in what we see.

Art is a way to use this language. A painting can show a feeling or an idea. This helps us think and learn in new ways.
