They sit in the Sakha Republic in Russia. These mountains are part of the East Siberian Mountains. They form a big arc of land. This arc sits between the Lena and Aldan rivers to the west. It sits between the Yana River to the east.

It is a very cold place. Some of the lowest temperatures on Earth were found here. Deep snow covers the ground for most of the year.

You might see moss or lichens on the ground. Some slopes have small forests of larch and pine trees.

The mountains have many parts. Some parts are rugged and rocky.

Other parts have smooth mountains and wide basins. Many rivers flow through the range. These rivers often freeze from September to May. The mountains also hold useful things like coal, silver, and tin. In 1934, two men named Yuri Bilibin and Evgeny Bobin studied the area. They helped map the mountains and find new lands.
