Acting involves portraying various characters through different life stages. Vanisri demonstrated this skill by playing dual roles. Vanisri's career also included roles in film production. In 1977, she financed the film Anugraham. This was the only Telugu film directed by Shyam Benegal. She also starred in this production alongside actress Smita Patil. This move showed her involvement in the business side of cinema. It allowed her to support specific artistic visions within the industry.

These collaborations included titles like Cheekati velugulu and Illu Illalu. She worked with Sivaji Ganesan in 10 different films. These included Vasantha Maligai in 1972 and Punniya Boomi in 1978. She also acted in three films with M. G. R.

Her talent earned her several prestigious industry honors. She won three Filmfare Awards South for her acting excellence. This was the Kavignar Kannadasan Award for her industry contributions. In 2013, she was honored with the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award. This award recognized her long-term dedication to Telugu cinema.

Vanisri's life outside of acting involved significant personal changes. She married Dr. Karunkaran in 1978. Following her marriage, she left the film industry for a period. She and her husband had one son and one daughter. She eventually returned to acting in 1989. During this second phase, she often played mother roles.
