Some rays can burn your skin. We use a number to see how strong they are. This is called the UV index.

Scientists made this number to help us. It tells us if the sun is strong. A high number means the sun is very strong. It can burn your skin fast.

When the number is high, stay in the shade. You can also wear a hat. Sunglasses help your eyes too. Using sun cream keeps your skin safe.

Bright things like snow can make rays stronger. Water and sand do this too. This makes the sun feel even hotter.

Checking the number helps you play safely. You can have fun in the sun. Just remember to protect yourself!
