In this game, each team gets one turn to bat. They play for a set of twenty overs. An over is a group of balls bowled. Each bowler can only bowl four overs. The first six overs are a special part called a powerplay.

The first big match was in 2005. Australia and New Zealand played it. Since then, the game has grown very fast. Now, 100 nations are in the team rankings. In 2019, all members of the ICC could play. The ICC is the group that runs cricket.

Many players have set big records. Babar Azam has scored the most runs. Rashid Khan from Afghanistan has taken the most wickets. A wicket means a bowler got a batter out. Aaron Finch of Australia has the highest score. He made 172 runs against Zimbabwe. In 2023, Syazrul Idrus from Malaysia had a great game. He took 7 wickets for only 8 runs.
